Saturday 3rd December
Another poor performance, another frustrating defeat.
‘Mere fielded an injury-riddled team to host local rivals Milford last Saturday, hoping to pick up some much needed points.
The game started awfully for the boys when on the quarter past mark they conceded two very quick and very preventable goals. This sucker-punch proved too much for ‘Mere who offered next to nothing throughout the whole half.
After the restart it was much of the same – Milford & Witley first and second to everything with ‘Mere very sloppy in possession. After continual pressure leading to multiple Brewster blocks and Barratt saves, Milford eventually made it 3-0 with 20 minutes to go – no more than they deserved.
Straight from the kick off we finally saw some of what SHFC can do when decent play down the right lead to Clement crossing well (finally) for Hakeem to place a cushioned volley into the right-hand corner.
So another extremely poor performance by SHFC and a result that leaves them in real trouble, especially considering their two remaining games before the New Year are against the top two teams.
The only real positives to take from the game were Josh Brewster’s Man of the Match performance as a makeshift Centre-Back and Pete Chadwick’s exciting First Team debut.
The boys need to brush themselves down and clear their heads fast as they host the in-form University of Surrey next Saturday, who battered Chiddingfold 8-0 last weekend.
